David R Boyd is an environmental lawyer, author, and Trudeau Scholar at the University of British Columbia, where his research focuses on the right to a healthy environment. He recently spent a year as a special advisor on sustainability to the federal Privy Council Office. David is also an adjunct professor with Simon Fraser University's graduate Resource and Environmental Management. He is a former Executive Director of the Sierra Legal Defence Fund, Canada's leading public interest environmental law organization, and has argued cases at all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada. His work with POLIS focuses on developing practical ways to incorporate ecological principles into our legal and economic systems. David is the author of Unnatural Law: Rethinking Canadian Environmental Law and Policy, Sustainability Within a Generation: A New Vision for Canada, Canada vs. The OECD: An Environmental Comparison, and many op-eds in the Globe and Mail and other papers.

David's perspective was 'deconstucted' in a recent article in Earth Matters written by Carrie Saxifrage.
